Relational Contracting

Traditional approaches to contracting and the attendant supplier management methods have failed to address issues associated with managing complexity. The concept of contracts as instruments simply for the allocation and management of risk and liability has been shown to be a recipe for failure when dealing with complex endeavours. Relational Contracting describes the contractual mechanisms that support and foster development and sustainment of appropriate relationships between the parties to manage the integration and collaboration necessary to manage complexity, respond to change and realise value from emerging opportunities.
